About BecomingX
World’s Highest Marathon is organised by BecomingX - a company founded to help people and organisations achieve extraordinary things. Alongside our work with ambitious corporates, we have a proven track record of delivering showcase world-first challenges in extreme environments - including the World’s Deepest Marathon, held 1,120 metres below sea level in a mine in Sweden, and the first World’s Highest Marathon in Chile. It was on Ojos del Salado in February 2026 where we set two Guinness World Record’s - ‘highest marathon’ and ‘highest marathon distance run’ - which is set at 4,340 metres. Across these events, 60 people have become world record holders, supported by expert teams, meticulous planning, and world-class logistics.
Beyond expedition events, BecomingX works with some of the world’s highest performing companies and people - including Olympic gold medallists, global leaders and elite athletes - to help individuals and organisations understand what it truly takes to realise extraordinary outcomes.

Safety sits at the centre of every expedition and event we deliver. We operate with meticulous risk management, detailed planning, and highly trained staff experienced in remote and high-altitude environments.
Contingency and redundancy are built into every element - from route planning and logistics to communications and medical support. Participants are supported with structured preparation and training throughout the journey, helping them build the skills and confidence needed to operate safely in this environment.
Our teams use modern expedition technology, including GPS tracking systems, radios, and satellite communications such as Starlink, ensuring reliable communication and real-time oversight across the group. A dedicated expedition doctor accompanies the team throughout, supported by trained staff and clear emergency protocols.
